Burn Pile / All Kinds of Murmuring Here and There
Join us on Saturday, February 21st from 12 PM to 1 PM at Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) for a conversation with artist, Bachrun LoMele and art critic and curator Shana Nys Dambrot! Gain insight into LoMele’s artistic practice and process.
Bachrun LoMele is based in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California. LoMele is a graduate of Art Center in Pasadena and the University of California Santa Cruz. Burn Pile has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, GearBox Gallery, and Experimental Intermedia in Belgium, and most recently at Torrance Art Museum. A co-founder of Hatchery Art Spaces, LoMele has participated in residencies at Eastside International, Shoebox Projects, and Stonehouse Residency.
Shana Nys Dambrot is an art critic, curator, and author based in DTLA. She is the writer & co-founder of 13ThingsLA—a weekly Substack of curated exhibition reviews & recommendations. Formerly the Arts Editor at LA Weekly, her work appears in the Village Voice, Flaunt, WhiteHot, Alta Journal, and other culture publications. She studied Art History at Vassar College, curates & juries exhibitions, writes prolifically for catalogs & monographic publications, and speaks at galleries, schools & cultural institutions nationally. She is the recipient of the Rabkin Art Writers Prize and the LA Press Club Critic of the Year award. Her oneiric novella Zen Psychosis (Griffith Moon) published in 2020.
