About this Event
Join us at Wizard Ranch Nature Preserve and learn about fireflies' life cycle, how to identify species by their flash pattern, and the science behind their illuminated butts. We'll also learn about the threats to fireflies and what steps you can take to ensure their survival.
What to Expect and How to Prepare: This event is open to ages 10 and up (anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult). This event will include an easy to moderate hike on natural surface trails through meadow and woodlands. Trails may contain roots and/or rocks. Hike is approximately 1.5 miles and will move at a slow pace, leaving time for observation. Port-a-johns are available onsite. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Bring a headlamp (red lenses preferred) if you have one available; if not they will be provided. Bring any snacks or drinks you may wish to have. Wear clothing appropriate for the weather with sufficient layers.
Refund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event.
Animal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home.
Cancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. If the Conservancy cancels the event, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded.
