About this Event
We remain in a severe drought this La Niña year. With the newly announced City of Boulder voluntary water reduction in water use, the extreme fire risk, multiple recent PSPS events, and the Chinook winds, perhaps some of you are thinking about changing your landscape this spring.
During this hour long event with landscape designer and Master Gardener, Alicia Curtin, home hardening and fire resistant design will be discussed followed by plant selection. Discussion examples include best practices for home hardening, mulching options, spacing techniques, fire-resistant groundcovers and alternatives to junipers.
An order form for low flammability plants will be offered at the end of the meeting for those who are interested in offerings from a local wholesale vendor specializing in native, drought tolerant, and fire-resistant plants some of which are listed here:
