Join the UC Irvine Center for Storytelling, the Department of English, the Literary Journalism Program, and the Samueli School of Engineering for a masterclass with award-winning audio journalist Natalie Tso. In this hands-on and engaging workshop, participants will explore three facets of voice in audio storytelling: How to find your voice as a storyteller; How to craft compelling audio stories using other people's voices; and How to best use your own voice for audio. This event is free and open to the public; all are welcome!
ABOUT NATALIE TSO
Natalie Tso is an award-winning journalist and host of podcast which introduces cutting-edge labs at the UC Irvine Samueli School of Engineering.
Natalie has won top global awards for her audio documentaries on human trafficking, mentally ill teens and global politics. These include the UK Association of International Broadcasting’s Best Current Affairs Documentary, New York Festivals Best News Documentary Gold Award and the Society of Publishers in Asia’s Excellence in Audio Reporting Award, among many other honors.
As a foreign journalist, Natalie was also a regular contributor to TIME magazine, interviewing presidents and writing about Taiwan politics, culture and society. She has won Taiwan’s top broadcasting award, the Golden Bell award, for Best Program Host on Social Issues, Best Radio Play and Best Radio Feature.
Natalie is the author of Free To Be You and Free To Love, books she published in Taiwan. She is a senior multimedia strategist at the UC Irvine Samueli School of Engineering where she specializes in multimedia storytelling.
