About this Event
You have a personal experience you’d like to turn into a memoir or short story. But when you put words on the page, they just don’t feel like you. Just be yourself, they say! Easy...right? Yet there’s nothing worse than reading over your big idea and feeling like it's generic, flat, or follows ingrained rules that give you the instant ick.
+ How do you make your writing shine quasar-bright?
+ How do you make your story into something that swells you with pride, and makes the room make room for you?
+ Your brain is crackling with all sorts of weird curiosities. How do you wield them to make your writing authentically yours?
Hey, we’re stuck with ourselves 24/7—all our ups and all our downs. It’s easy to forget what makes our unique perspective so remarkable. In this beginner’s creative writing workshop, we’ll explore what makes our writing tick.
We’ll have fun experimenting with what’s unapologetically yours: Your writer's voice!
Join us and...
+ Gain a newfound respect and appreciation for your personal story
+ Rally the guts to go bananas and embrace your ‘special sauce’ of life experiences, observations, and instincts
+ Jump—no, cannonball—into your one-of-a-kind narrative specialty
+ Awaken bravery to break a few writing rules that’ve traditionally held you back. Go on that tangent, sneak in that gorgeous word, and be super weird.
This is a 3-Part workshop. Join us Friday May 15, May 29 and June 5, 6:00–7:30PM. Let’s have fun!
About Larissa Lewis
For the last ten years, Larissa Lewis has built a creative writing business helping brands, writers, and thought leaders identify their unique, scroll-stopping writer’s voice. Along the way, she has fallen in love with the spooky magic of seeing the words you wrote finally feel like your own. She loves guiding participants to trust their instincts as they get more comfortable with their storytelling special sauce.
And…If you’re looking for the cheer section you need to kick-start your writing journey, you’re really in trouble now: Larissa grew up wielding megaphones and cowbells. She did her first IRONMAN triathlon at age 19, and believes she has cheered on a Guinness-Record-clinching number of endurance events.
