Finding Your Funny is a 6-week, hands-on stand-up intensive focused on discovering your voice — what makes you funny — and turning it into a real 5-minute set performed live on stage at The Spot.
No experience needed, but veterans are welcome!
You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room.
You just have to show up.
You’ll learn how jokes actually work, mine your real life for material, shape stories into bits, build confidence on the mic, and get weekly feedback and punch-ups.
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a comedy lab.
It ends with a real showcase in front of a real audience.
By the end, you won’t just understand stand-up.
You’ll know what your funny is — and you’ll have proven it on stage.
About The Instructor:
Alex Hernandez is a Mexican-American-Kentuckian dad that has been teaching performers of all kinds for over a decade. He has an obvious love for performing that shines through while he is on stage. Audiences love his stories about his colorful, musical upbringing as well as his jokes about his recent initiation into fatherhood. Alex’s talents have landed him work at comedy clubs across the region, opening up for such acts as Theo Von, Chris Porter, Rene Vaca, Ian Lara, Jessie Johnson, William Montgomery, Michael Colyer, and more.
