In this Event:
Imagine walking up to a large and intriguing sampler platter of all kinds of food. Some options look familiar or instantly delicious, others make you raise an eyebrow, and others still look unfamiliar yet strangely tempting.
That’s exactly the spirit of this experiential workshop.
Think of it as a tasting menu for calm. Instead of simply talking about ways to settle your mind and body, we’ll come together to “taste” a variety of practices in real time.
The practices explored in this workshop commonly include:
Grounding through imagery
Building internal resources through nature and the four elements
Using the body as a container and a means to release tension
Calming through breathwork
Identifying the who/what/where/when of personal safety anchors
We’ll share and compare notes along the way, as everyone’s palette is different. Understanding the strategies that resonate with ourselves and others can spark new ideas and insights.
Come ready to explore, experiment, and maybe even surprise yourself as we sample a variety of ways to move toward a calmer, more peaceful state.
About the Speaker:
I’m Rich Doyle, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) who divides my time between serving as a psychotherapist at St. John’s College, providing community-based therapy through my private practice, Inner Compass Counseling & Wellness, and offering workshops in the community. After 15 years working with children and families in the realm of treatment foster care and adoption in Charlottesville, VA, my wife and I relocated to Annapolis in 2022. I’ve practiced psychotherapy since 2017 and use an integrative approach rooted in EMDR and supported by other brain- and body-based therapies. I’m joined in my work by Buddy, my certified therapy dog, and primarily work with adults (ages 18+) in extended sessions lasting 1.5 to 3 hours. Though this format differs from more traditional therapy models, it can provide an effective and efficient way to facilitate deep, transformative change.
