Join us for a cozy Sunday afternoon of Books, Brews, and community at Dock Street Brewery.
We’re bringing The Bookcase, a traveling pop-up bookstore, to the brewery for an afternoon. A celebration of books, Women’s voices, and some Sicilian spiciness, this is the ultimate Sunday plan: buy books, support local businesses and creatives, and savor the Sunday afternoon, all while sipping on Dock Street’s award-winning beers. Whether you’re shopping for your own shelves, or finding a thoughtful gift, this is a perfect way to relax, connect, and maybe even gear up for the Eagles game at 8:30pm — stay after to cheer on the team!
CHAPTER 1: MEET THE BOOKCASE, AND JO PIAZZA
The Bookcase is a traveling bookstore dreamed up by bestselling author and journalist Jo Piazza. We roll across Philadelphia and the Catskills in a lovingly restored vintage camper trailer, and sometimes popping up in a bar or coffeeshop with antique suitcases filled with books. Think of it as a moveable literary feast: part indie bookstore, part community building catalyst and part book discovery platform. Each stop features Jo’s own acclaimed novels alongside a highly curated selection of books by (mostly) women authors she admires. These are stories that spark conversation, connection, and a little rebellion. The Bookcase invites readers to slow down, browse, and discover something unforgettable.

CHAPTER 2: FOOD
We’ll definitely be honoring the Sicilian through-line here - Dock Street is proudly woman-owned by Sicilian mother-daughter duo Rosemarie and Renata and bestselling author Jo Piazza wrote The Sicilian Inheritance, which nods to both Sicily and Philadelphia! In that spirit, we’re featuring a favorite recipe from Dock Street West, The Sicilian Pizza, which features walnuts, capers, olives, mozzarella, fresh herbs and housemade red sauce, along with a cannoli special in Jo’s honor.
EPILOGUE:
