A Bavarian master instrument maker has to hire an immigrant Iranian master in his workshop to save himself from bankruptcy. The two master carpenters, both specializing in building chopping boards, have to overcome their cultural differences and language barrier to complete a crucial order that could potentially save their joinery. We see two worlds collide and observe the development of the protagonists as they approach each other.

It's 1955. Rosa is a skilled seamstress in a provincial city and a lover of detective stories. She spends a lot of time alone since her husband is not very present at home and gives herself to an existence without major changes. Curious, she often uses the terrace of her house to spy without being seen. It is a neighborhood of ill repute, where shady characters of fraudulent arrangements abound. One night, from her terrace, Rosa witnesses a crime. From that moment on, reality and her fantasy world collide and she becomes the protagonist of her own detective story.
