Creating award-winning short content is not easy. But it can be done and in a month, you will have the tools to do so! Whether you are a filmmaker, actor, business owner, or media professional, this course will give you the ABC, of telling poignant stories, cinematically, and succinctly. This 4-week workshop will teach you the steps of crafting stories with light, camera, movement, and actors. Each week, we will cover a specific topic where you can learn in-depth the ins and outs of the production process led by local filmmaker Freddy Rodriguez.

Class One (5/1) - Directing 101 - Developing your Voice
Class Two (5/8) - Directing 102 - Blocking & Composition
Class Three (5/15) - Directing 103 - Pre-Production (script breakdowns, shot lists, and storyboarding)
Class Four (5/22) – Directing 104 - Funding and Distribution (creating mood boards, attracting investors, entering film festivals, crowdfunding)
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Freddy Rodriguez, a Miami filmmaking stalwart with a two-decade career, showcases an impressive portfolio, including the HBO-acquired film "Malabar." Recognized as "One of five Miami filmmakers to watch," he holds eight Suncoast EMMY® awards. Freddy's impact extends to social justice and the LGBTQ+ community through the acclaimed "Open Dialogues" series. In 2023, he received an "Innovator Grant" for the Spanish-language horror short, "The Efficiency." Freddy's unique vision and extensive experience make him an inspiring instructor, offering valuable insights into award-winning filmmaking and impactful storytelling in Miami.
