One antiquarian bookseller in Tokyo is shutting down after 35 years in business, when the pandemic hits.
This 11-minute documentary captures the final days of Polan Shobo, a bookseller specialising in antiquarian books in the Tokyo suburbs. Kyosuke Ishida, the owner, has decided to close down his shop after 35 years due to the recession caused by the pandemic. In the week before the closure, the shop sees an unexpected surge in visitors. This space continues to offer its visitors what it has offered them until the very last page.

About the Director: Born in Tokyo in 1998, Kota Nakamura has directed documentaries and narrative films while studying sociology and film studies. Polan (2022), his first feature film, was screened at the Jeonju International Film Festival (South Korea), the Pia Film Festival (Japan), and the Camera Japan Festival (Netherlands). The Last Page (2021) is the short version of Polan and received the Documentary Award at the CineYouth Film Festival in Chicago.
