Held on Earth Day, this documentary profiles visionary farmer and scientist Wes Jackson, co-founder of The Land Institute. The film explores Jackson’s pioneering work in perennial agriculture and asks how stewardship of land and ecological responsibility relate to the future of democracy. Prairie Prophecy reflects how the places we inhabit shape our values, livelihoods, and sense of common purpose. In this way, the film highlights how democracy itself is grounded in place—reminding us that caring for the land is part of caring for the republic we share. Post-film discussion will feature organic farmer Bernie Ware and Native herbalist Nathan Wright. This event is co-sponsored by the Benzie Conservation District.
