About this Event
Join the Center for Art and Advocacy for a screening of Painting Ourselves Into Society, directed by Rashaan Thomas, and In Exchange for Flesh, directed by Corey Devon Arthur and
Sandro Ramani. Painting Ourselves Into Society is a short documentary directed by Rashaan Thomas. Incarcerated artists paint what it means to be in Pr*son and still be part of society. Their responses
accumulate into an exhibit at the Berkeley Arts Center. In Exchange for Flesh, a short documentary co-directed by Corey Devon Arthur, who is currently incarcerated, and Sandro Ramani, takes us inside two New York State prisons to expose the horrors of the strip frisk policy, revealing a story of bravery, resistance and healing. From Pr*son, Corey has shared his directorial vision and artwork to raise awareness of this practice
with outside audiences.
