Join the Green Office and ‘Folk Mot Fossilmakta’ for a screening of the film Civil Disobedience (Sivil Ulydighet)Date: November 14th 2024
Time: 4:30pm-6:30pm
Place: The Green Office, in our new location on the ground floor of Kristian Ottosens Hus.
Civil Disobedience (Sivil Ulydighet) is a film about the fight to stop Norwegian CO2 emissions. It follows activists of all ages from Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil as they take action against oil transport at the Sjursøya terminal in Oslo. Filmmaker Thomas Østbye follows the activists so closely that he himself is arrested by the police while the camera is rolling.
The film is an intense and empathetic depiction of the moment, but also directs its gaze towards the bigger picture: What makes ordinary people across generations get involved in the climate fight and choose to defy powerful forces in a society driven by fossil fuels?
Following the film, participants will have the chance to hear from some activists who are using civil disobedience to stand up against the power that fossil fuel companies hold.
The film will be in Norwegian, with English subtitles. The subsequent conversation will be in English. The event is free and open to everyone!
After this event, participants are invited to go to Kulturhuset to further discuss these topics at the Grønn pils, hosted by Framtiden i våre hender. https://fb.me/e/1Og5dx7er
