• Un notaire, Frank, découvre qu'il a été empoisonné par un poison lent mais à l'effet inexorable. Il ne lui reste que quelques heures à vivre. Il va se battre jusqu'au bout pour tenter de découvrir qui a voulu le tuer et pourquoi, avant de se rendre au commissariat pour dénoncer son assassin.

Si Mort à l'arrivée (D.O.A.) est considéré aujourd’hui comme un film noir classique et novateur, c’est grâce à sa structure narrative particulière, avec un long flash-back qui voit arriver le protagoniste au poste de police pour dénoncer un meurtre, le sien! Mort à l'arrivée est d’ailleurs le terme qui déclare qu'une personne est morte à son arrivée à l'hôpital.

If D.O.A. is regarded today as a classic and innovative film noir, it's thanks to its peculiar narrative structure, with a long flashback that sees the protagonist arrive at the police station to denounce a murder - his own! Dead on Arrival is, incidentally, the term that declares a person dead on arrival at the hospital.
