A Beginner’s Analogue Photography Taster
Rediscover the art of slowing down. Capture a moment, develop a memory.
In a world of instant digital filters, there is something truly enchanting about the tactile, deliberate process of analogue photography. Whether you’ve never held a film camera or haven't touched one in years, this intimate, small-group workshop is the perfect way to learn a new skill in a relaxed and supportive environment.
What to Expect
Our session is designed to be hands-on and stress-free. We’ll guide you through every step of the journey:
- The Photo Walk: We’ll begin with a gentle stroll to find inspiration. You don’t need any equipment, we supply the camera and a short roll of film.
- The Darkroom Experience: We’ll head back to the Darkroom to demystify the development process. You’ll learn how to safely load film onto reels and together we will use the chemistry to bring your images to life.
- Intimate Learning: With a small group size of just three, you’ll receive plenty of one-to-one guidance and support throughout the session.
- Take Home Your Work: At the end of the session, you’ll leave with your negatives.
Who Is This For?
This workshop is perfect for absolute beginners or anyone looking for a taster of the analogue world. We focus on the joy of creating rather than technical jargon, making it a friendly space to experiment and learn
What’s Included: Camera loan, film, chemistry, and expert tuition.
This session is in our upstairs darkroom space. The building is currently having a lift installed, but it is yet to be completed.
There is currently no level access. It’s a single flight of 14 steps then you go around the corner and there are two small steps. Once you’re upstairs there’s a loo. You shouldn’t need to come downstairs for anything until the end of the event.
GETTING HERE
- Tram & Train to Blackpool North Station
- Bus: No 6 or 18 to Topping St., No 3, 3a, 5c, 6, 18 to Church St (Stanley Buildings), No 5, 5a, 5b, 6, 7a, 14 to Talbot Rd
- Driving: The closest pay and display car parks are on East Topping St and Talbot Road multi storey. There is also parking at the nearby Sainsbury’s supermarket, please make sure that you check the terms before you use the car park.
TOP TIP: If you need to park a car, then there is usually plenty of free on-street parking on Edward St and Topping St from 6pm.
