In East Berlin in 1984, a Stasi officer is assigned to secretly monitor a playwright and the woman he loves. What begins as routine surveillance slowly becomes something far more complicated as questions of loyalty, conscience, and humanity emerge.
At once a tense political thriller and a moving story about the power of art and empathy, The Lives of Others also resonates in our own era — a time when surveillance, data, and observation have quietly become part of everyday life.
