Calling all 16-24 year old Filipino Angelenos! 🇵ðŸ‡ðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸ The Human Beauty Movement is hosting Filipino-American Youth Wellness Comic Book Workshops this June!

The Details:
- No prior art experience is necessary.
- We encourage individuals of all genders, abilities, and personal mental health experiences to apply.
- Must be Filipino-American.
- Must live in Los Angeles County.
- Must be between 16-24 years of age.
- If you’re under 18, you must get permission from your parent or guardian.
- Must commit to attending the full in-person program which includes:
- 7 interactive wellness sessions (includes journaling, meditation, breathwork, self-expression, art therapy + more)
- 6 comic book education sessions (includes themes & characters, plot development, script writing, storyboarding, editing, printing + more)
- 1 gallery exhibition of the group‘s work
IMPORTANT: The comic book you create will become the property of the LA County Department of Mental Health to help support others in our community.
- Tuesday, June 18th, 10 am -12 pm: Introductions, Ground Rules, Mental Health Discussion & Wellness Activities (2 hours)
- Thursday, June 20th, 10 am -1 pm: Culture & Art Therapy (1 hour) + Comic Book Theme & Character Development (2 hours)
- Friday, June 21st, 10 am -1 pm: Empowerment & Creative Journaling (1 hour) + Comic Book Plot Development (2 hours)
- Monday, June 24th, 10 am -1 pm: Love & Inspiration (1 hour) + Comic Book Script Writing & Storyboarding, Part 1 (2 hours)
- Wednesday, June 26th, 10 am -1 pm: Heroes & Masks (1 hour) + Comic Book Script Writing & Storyboarding, Part 2 (2 hours)
- Friday, June 28th, 10 am -1 pm: Communication & Social Media (1 hour) + Comic Book Editing (2 hours)
- Monday, July 1st, 10 am -1 pm: Fantasy & Imagination (1 hour) + Comic Book Printing (2 hours)
- July 11, 6-8 pm: Gallery Exhibit & Celebration
Remember, you must attend all sessions of the Filipino-American Youth Wellness Comic Book Workshops plus the exhibit to get paid!
