This class will explore the basics of figure painting, starting with loose gestural studies before continuing to sustained poses.
About this Event

5-week | 6-8:30PM | Thursdays, April 30 through May 28

Week 1: Introductions, materials, gesture painting.

Week 2: Paint from model/demo.

Week 3: Paint from model.

Week 4: Paint from model.

Week 5: Critique/discussion of further possibilities of figure (narrative, political art, etc.)

This class will explore the basics of figure painting, starting with loose gestural studies/sketches, continuing to more sustained poses, and finishing with a brief exploration of how the figure can be used to make more personal statements. Figure drawing experience highly recommended, basic painting experience also a plus.

Nick Skoug is a figurative painter. Originally from the Los Angeles area, he studied painting there before moving to Germany, where he lived for 10 years. He left Berlin for a Master’s Degree in Painting at the New York Studio School.
