Thursdays, 10:15 AM to 12:15 PM.
$200 for 4 consecutive classes, includes model fees, supplies needed.
Limited to 10 students.
In this class, students will develop their skills for using the human figure in their artwork. Primary drawing skills will be used for capturing the initial form of the figure. A strong emphasis on gesture drawing will also be used to help students gain a stronger grasp of the movement of the body and how the primary forms of the body are incorporated into that movement. After the drawing phase, students will begin to translate their works into paint. Principles of color and value will be employed as students work towards a completed figurative work. Basic anatomy will also be covered to give students a good foundational understanding of the human form.
Michael Sharp has a BFA in drawing and painting. He worked as a drawing professor's assistant for two semesters while earning his BFA. After college he worked as a substitute teacher for middle school and high school, which included art classes along with other academic subjects. After moving to Los Angeles, he also taught some private adult art classes.
