About this Event
On behalf of the University of Salford, you are invited to the Annual Law Lecture.
This year, we are profoundly honoured to welcome Figen Murray OBE, who will deliver a powerful lecture titled “From Tragedy to Legislative Change: The Journey of Martyn’s Law.”
Figen is the mother of Martyn Hett, a victim of the 2017 Manchester Arena attack. From profound personal loss, she has forged a legacy of change, becoming the driving force behind the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, known as Martyn’s Law.
Her talk will share a deeply moving account of that tragic night and her journey from a mother’s campaign to a national legislative milestone. She will explain the substance of Martyn’s Law and its significant implications for public venues and security.
This is a vital opportunity for our university community, especially law and criminology students, to witness the human story behind a landmark Act of Parliament.
