Set against the backdrop of 1980s Brisbane and the Gold
Coast, FIFI tells the extraordinary true story of a teenager
who found herself at the centre of Queensland’s adult
entertainment scene—long before society was ready to
confront the realities behind it.
From her first arrest at just eighteen, to navigating police
intimidation, public scrutiny, and the dangers of a rapidly
evolving industry, Duncan’s story is as confronting as it is
compelling. The book explores themes of power, gender,
survival, and resilience in a time when many of these issues
were ignored or silenced.
Drawing on vivid personal memories, Duncan recounts a
world that has since undergone dramatic change. As she
reflects on shifting attitudes toward sexual harassment,
mental health, and women’s rights, FIFI becomes more
than a memoir.
“Many did not believe that such things could ever happen in Australia,” Duncan writes, highlighting how
