Learn peyote stitch beadwork by creating your own ‘Fictional Moss’ stone. Play with color, pattern and texture as you hand stitch the surface of your stone using this off loom beading technique. Explore and learn the skills necessary to incorporate personal treasured beads, buttons, or found objects into your own creative sculpture.
All materials provided to make one stone, including a variety of palm-sized stones from Lake Superior.
Please bring the following tools: Scissors, Needle Nose Pliers
Optional: Snack, Beverage, Lunch (we will have an hour break for lunch and plan to walk over to the LSB for those who want to join us!) personal beads and or buttons if desired, your own special palm-sized stone if you prefer.
Chris Allen was born in Kingston, New York in 1959. Allen attended the College of Saint Teresa in Winona, Minnesota for two years, earned a BFA at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in Painting/Printmaking with honors and a Master of Fine Art in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. A pivotal workshop in Ann Arbor from Joyce Scott ignited a passion for beadwork. Allen has exhibited for the past 40 years nationally. She was a resident of Lake Leelanau, Michigan for 14 years and currently lives in Rochester, Minnesota.
