About this Event
This National Poetry Month, join us for Fiction & Florals, a floral design workshop inspired by literature. This unique and interactive literary program explores how literature, poetry, and visual art intersect by translating themes from Harlem Rhapsody into floral design. For this edition of Fiction & Florals, guided by Ivy Paniagua, we’ll learn how to make a floral arrangement inspired by by Victoria Christopher Murray.
What to Expect:
- Hands-On Instruction: Learn the basics of floral arrangement, composition, and design.
- Literary Discussion: Dive into excerpts and engage in guided reflection around themes of cultural pride, creativity, and artistic expression.
- Floral Storytelling: Learn how flowers can tell a story much like poetry uses rhythm, imagery, and emotion.
- Creative Design: Create a beautiful, expressive floral arrangement reflecting the book’s themes and imagery.
Designed for readers and non-readers alike, this workshop is a chance to engage with literature in a whole new way. Join us and get creative!

About the founder and creative force behind Fiction&Florals, Ivy Paniagua.
Born and raised in Harlem, I’ve always been shaped by the culture, creativity, and resilience of my community. My background spans social media management, entertainment marketing, and experiential production — along with years as a socialite and music personality deeply embedded in creative spaces. Those experiences sharpened my understanding of storytelling, connection, and how to create moments that linger long after the room clears.
Books have always been my constant — a source of escape, reflection, and expansion. Floral design entered my life at a time when I needed grounding and creative release. What started as something personal quickly became something bigger: Fiction & Florals — a space where literature, beauty, and community gather intentionally.
My purpose is simple: to create spaces where women feel safe, inspired, and seen. Through curated reads, immersive gatherings, and floral storytelling, Fiction & Florals is building more than arrangements — it’s building belonging.
