About this Event

ENGLISH

Following the opening of their exhibition , organizers Stamatina Gregory and Georgie Sánchez are joined by exhibiting artists from the collective Río Paraná, Duen Neka'hen Sacchi and Mag de Santo. Reflecting on the show, the organizers and artists will delve into Duen Neka'hen Sacchi’s publication and namesake of the exhibition, “Ficciones patógenas”. Through this discussion, the artists explore the nature of their collective work as Río Paraná, their artwork on view Mil sucesos perdidos hasta ahora (2020), and how ficciones patógenas have been perpetuated and embodied, occluding local, non-Western, and Indigenous ways of being and knowing.

About the Artists

Río Paraná is a team formed since 2016 by Duen Neka'hen Sacchi and Mag De Santo, visual artists, performers, writers, researchers and trans philosophers from the South, graduates of PEI-MACBA, who work on projects that cross utopian imagination, social fiction, trans* dissidence and anticolonialism. The river known as Paraná comes from the Guaraní word for sea, large or extensive body of water: paraná guazú. The Paraná river is the one that connects the waters of the Bermejo River in the Impenetrable in northern Argentina and the La Plata River on the shores of the port of Buenos Aires, two territories that have affective and biographical implications for its members, as well as the transit between these spaces, between the Yunga and the sea.
