About this Event
The Federation of International Banks in Ireland (FIBI), an affiliate of Banking & Payments Federation Ireland (BPFI), will host its flagship annual conference 'International Banking: Competing for Growth - Ireland's Future as a Global FS Hub' from 09:00 – 13:00 on Wednesday, November 12th at the College Green Hotel, Dublin sponsored by KPMG, Matheson LLP and IOB.
This conference has been accredited with CPD hours, view full details for CPD Accreditation Confirmation - 2025-2659
This year's conference will focus on what is required to secure and grow Ireland's position as a premier location for International Financial Services, as well as consider both industry challenges and opportunities in the evolving global landscape.
Highlights on the day include:
- A keynote address from Minister Jack Chambers, during which the Minister will share his views on how Ireland can ensure its continued success as a global hub for financial services in the context of increasing competition, the Government’s current competitiveness agenda, and the forthcoming Irish presidency of the Council of the EU
- An in-depth fireside chat on Simplification and Competitiveness with Luis de Guindos, Vice President of the European Central Bank, and Mary-Elizabeth McMunn, Deputy Governor, Financial Regulation, Central Bank of Ireland
- A Practitioners Outlook panel: Securing Irelands Future as a Global FS Hub featuring Terri Dempsey, Chief Executive and Country Head, State Street Ireland; and Derek Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer, BNP Paribas Ireland; Enda Kilcullen, Chief Executive, TD Securities; and Ian Nelson, Partner, Head of Financial Services and Regulatory, KPMG in Ireland; will consider the opportunities and challenges facing the international financial services industry.
- A timely Political Panel on Ireland’s forthcoming EU Presidency will explore the unique opportunity to influence the EU's financial services policy agenda with panellists Regina Doherty MEP; Oliver Gilvarry, Assistant Secretary, Department of Finance; Emma Lokko, Head of Market Structure Europe, Susquehanna; and Niamh Mulholland, Financial Institutions Group Partner, Matheson LLP who will give their views on where effort should be focused to drive a competitiveness and growth agenda.
These discussions take place against a backdrop of increasing global geopolitical fragmentation and intense competition across financial centres. The EU is actively pursuing both a Competitiveness Agenda and a Regulatory Simplification Agenda to ensure the resilience and efficiency of its financial markets. The insights shared at this conference will be crucial for understanding how Ireland must strategically respond to these evolving EU-level priorities while navigating a more complex international operating environment.
Join over 200 delegates to assess the competitive factors influencing Ireland's success, debate the future of EU regulation, and network with leaders shaping the next chapter for international banking.
