Gede is Haiti's festival of the ancestors - akin to Mexico’s Day of the Dead, or Halloween. The holiday is celebrated in Haiti with music, ritual, drumming, singing, dancing, drinking and laughter. Tafa Mi-Soleil is a rising star in Haitian music, with a unique voice and a deep commitment to roots and culture, and human rights. In addition to her music, Mi-Soleil involved in theater, visual arts and fashion. The young singer was awarded “Best Female Artist of the Year” at the prestigious Haitian Music Awards in 2023. Jean Caze is a Haitian-American trumpet artist who brings his exceptional kreyol jazz septet to this event. His unique sound draws from his Haitian roots and American upbringing, promising Haitian grooves, catchy melodies, improv, and fun. Rounding out the night will be Rara Nou, host Natidredayiti, Afro-electronica pioneer Val Jeanty, Asaho Dance and Arts Company, plus delicious Haitian food and drink specials. This event is produced by Rhythm Foundation and Fondasyon Zaka.
