Southwest Baptist University, in partnership with Community Outreach Ministries (COM), presents the 45th annual Festival of Christmas. Bolivar area residents are invited to attend the Christmas celebration on December 7th at 6p.m. at SBU's Bolivar campus in Pike Auditorium. The festival is free to attend and will feature both new and old traditions. Christmas music will be provided by the SBU Wind Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Chorale, Higher Ground, Bearcat Belles and the Bearcat Four. The Esquire Band and Bolivar Intermediate School Choir will also be performing.
As part of this festive tradition, COM will collect a special offering for the Polk County Food Pantry to help those in need throughout the year; the pantry serves approximately 450 families per month.
Tree Lighting
This year’s festival will also feature a new tradition: the first annual tree lighting which will take place following the Festival of Christmas on the forum, just outside of Pike Auditorium.
