About this Event
Welcome to The Festival of Care, a celebration of different ways of practicing care.
What happens when we consider care a craft or an artful practice? Over the three days of practical workshops and discussions, we will showcase different forms of care, each with different kinds of sensory and practical skills. What are the often-unrecognised or invisible skills of healthcare workers? How can we design spaces that care for people? Can robots actually care for, or care about, humans?
Come join us in exploring care differently, beyond what is usually seen, felt, or recognised as 'care' in care work.
The Festival marks the end of the Care Aesthetics project (funded by the AHRC, University of Manchester), led by the drama department in partnership with the NHS, GMMH, Birkbeck, University of London, and The Whitworth.
This is a free event. Coffee/tea and lunch provided on Friday and Saturday.
To book your spot for the whole festival, please follow the link at the bottom of the page. There are day tickets also available.
Our capacity is limited, and we offer refreshments and lunch to the number of bookings. Please only book the days you are sure to be able to make.
