She will be joined by violinist Carmit Zori and pianist Amy Cheng, both of whom are new to Festival Mozaic audiences.
Beginning the program is the California premiere performance of Elena Ruehr's Cello Sonata, which was composed specifically for Sophie and Amy in 2024. Charles Ives grew up questioning the status quo of music, which comes across in his Piano Trio from 1915. Following is Dvořák’s third piano trio from 1883, written in a more Germanic musical style, a move to appeal to European audiences' tastes at the time.
