About this Event
This is an event for kids and their families only.
Calling all bambini! Bring your family and learn about a long-held Italian tradition as we celebrate la Festa della Befana on January 12th at the Italian Cultural & Community Center! We'll be paid a visit by la Befana herself, who will bring candy for the children in attendance.
About la Befana
According to legend, the three wise men asked la Befana to come with them to bring gifts to baby Jesus. La Befana declined, saying she was too busy with her housework. When she changed her mind, she searched far and wide trying to catch up to them, but to no avail. To this day, she is still searching for the baby Jesus, and for this reason she brings sweets and candies by broomstick for children who have been good—or a lump of coal for those who have been bad—on the eve of the Epiphany each year.
