“Brilliant, exhilarating modern jazz.”Trumpeter Omar Abdul-Karim and pianist Kavyesh Kaviraj unite with bassist Dan Carpel and drummer Kevin Washington for a boundary-pushing quartet. Kaviraj, a St. Paul–based pianist, composer, and arranger, moves fluidly between jazz, hip hop, gospel, funk, and R&B, and has performed with Wynton Marsalis, David Sanchez, and Debbie Duncan. Omar, a prodigy who began trumpet at fourteen months, studied at the New School and has shared the stage with Roy Hargrove, Method Man, KRS-ONE, Lauryn Hill, and José James. With influences from Miles Davis to John Coltrane, he brings fire and lyricism to every performance. Together, the group delivers modern jazz alive with improvisation, storytelling, and dynamic interplay.
