There’s nothing quite like a winter snow shoe walk through the woods—the crisp air, the quiet stillness, and the satisfying crunch of snow under your feet. Add stunning frozen waterfalls, flowing icy streams, and great company, and you have the perfect cold-weather adventure!
How It Works
- Register, and we’ll email detailed information on what to bring and where to meet.
- Take Metro-North or drive to the Poughkeepsie Train Station, arriving by 10:58 AM.
- Your guide will meet you there and handle transportation to all activities.
- You’ll return in time for the 5:50 PM train back to NYC at the latest .
Itinerary
- 10:58 AM – Pick-up at Poughkeepsie Train Station
- Travel to The Culinary Institute of America’s Cafeteria for lunch.
- After lunch burn off the calories with a scenic winter snow shoe hike through Ferncliff Forest in Rhinebeck, NY for a 2 mile hike through the woods.
- Following the hike we will stop at local bake shop for hot chocolate.
- Depart for train (4:50pm or 5:50pm)
- About the Hike
- We’ll walk mostly on wide carriage paths (flat gravel roads) with a few gentle inclines. Trails will have snow. Total distance: about 2 miles. Difficulty: 5 out of 10.We will provide snow shoes.

- Absolutely! Most guests do—it’s a great way to meet new people.

- Dress for the weather. Check the National Weather Service only: https://www.weather.gov/
