For the second time, award-winning, Latin American singer/songwriter Fernando Ortega is coming to the Music Factory for 3 nights!
Fernando Ortega is a singer, pianist, songwriter, arranger, and storyteller. Trained as a classical pianist and inspired by the Presbyterian hymns of his childhood, Ortega has been influential in expanding the range of Christian music. He has devoted considerable attention to creating arrangements of early church music and hymns, infusing them with instrumental and vocal character drawn from classical, folk, and world music. His songs and writing often conjure the expansive landscape of the Southwestern United States.
Ortega makes his home in New Mexico, where his ancestors first settled in the early 1600s. Over a rich and varied musical career, he has released 22 records and a book of his bird photography and tales, has traveled around the world as a touring artist, and has received many accolades and awards for his music such as being a three-time GMA Dove Award winner, as well as a Billboard Latin Music Award winner. He is happiest at home, however, raising his spectacular daughter Ruby, working in the garden, and photographing birds.
Additionally, this year Fernando will be accompanied by renowned Cellist and Singer Cara Fox. Cara Fox is a cellist, multi-instrumentalist, and arranger in Nashville, TN. She holds a bachelor in music from Cedarville University and has worked as a session musician and touring cellist since 2008. Cara has played on numerous records for artists such as Maren Morris, Carly Rae Jepsen, Little Big Town, Ingrid Michelson, Russell Dickerson, Ben Rector, Cody Fry, Michael W. Smith, and many more. She has toured with grammy-winning artist Sara Bareilles, grammy-nominated bands Gungor, Jars of Clay, and All Sons & Daughters, and has performed live with Eminem, The War and Treaty, Jenny Lewis, Cody Fry, Fernando Ortega and Jon Foreman, among others. She loves to help bring to life the sound and dreams of the artists she works with, and hopes to bring light to every place she visits. In her free time, Cara enjoys playing tennis and being a wife to Jared, mother to Norman and Harvey, and friend to many.
Tickets are $45.00 in advance and $55.00 at the door. Seating is general admission and doors open at 6:30 PM. Concessions and merchandise will be for sale during the concert.
The Music Factory is located on the 2nd floor of the WWI era Old Milk Factory on the Rum River in Anoka. It is not a wheelchair accessible building and there are some stairs to climb.
