Join us for the September Coffee Connection, sponsored by Mary Core with Avenue Scholars Des Moines.
Mary is a proud Des Moines native with a strong passion for supporting her community. Her career began immediately after high school at what was then Bankers Life, now known as Principal Financial Group. After 21 years in the corporate sector, she transitioned into nonprofit work—a space that truly aligns with her values. She has had the privilege of serving with impactful organizations such as United Way, Goodwill of Central Iowa, the Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation, Anawim Housing, and currently, Avenue Scholars.
Avenue Scholars Des Moines is making a measurable difference by empowering students through education, coaching, grants, and business partnerships. From high school to career entry, the program aims to build a stronger community by ensuring every Scholar has a pathway to success.This program with a fulltime career coarch (elective class) is in all five DMPS high schools.As of this fall we will be supporting a total of 350 students (high school and post-secondary)

We encourage everyone to arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. due to the door being secured and locked.
The visitor parking lot is located at the corner of 19th and Grand across from Central Campus. Please do not park in any of the numbered spots which are designated for staff. On street/meter parking is available free until 9am along 18th street if needed. The main building entrance is located under the big blue banner.

- You must register.
