About this Event
Saachi Sen is a Mumbai-born singer-songwriter based in London, whose emotive music draws influences from a myriad of genres including folk, jazz and Indian Classical. Her writing has earned several accolades, including a semi-finalist place in the International Songwriting Competition, a Finalist place in the UK Songwriting Competition, and a Finalist place in the UK Eastern Eye ACTAs (other nominees included Riz Ahmed and Nitin Sawhney). Her released music, recorded at the likes of Abbey Road Studios, has also gained support from platforms such as BBC Radio, Wonderland Magazine, and Spotify’s ‘Women of Indie India’.
Saachi’s live career spans festivals like Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings and the main stage of Cambridge Big Weekend, plus popular London venues including the Southbank Centre and Oslo Hackney (opening for fusion composer Soumik Datta). In her biggest performance to date, she played to thousands in London’s Trafalgar Square for the city’s official Diwali celebrations.
In honour of the Female Voices of India concert series at The Tagore Centre, Berlin she will present an acoustic programme of original music exploring the themes and experiences of womanhood, alongside a few specially selected cover songs in Hindi and Bengali. Her enchanting vocals and vivid storytelling style promise an engaging performance and a beautiful, immersive evening.
The event at the Tagore Centre, Embassy of India presents a unique opportunity to witness Saachi Sen live in concert as part of the Female Voices of India concert series which celebrates 30 years of the Tagore Centre and the Indian Council of Cultural Relations in Germany.
