Explore the colorful world of fiber layering and surface design through this playful felt painting activation at The Shiny Shop. Using vibrant wool fibers, felting techniques, and embellishments, participants will create soft painterly patches full of texture, movement, personality, and handmade charm.
Guests are invited to blend and layer wool roving like brushstrokes — building abstract compositions, dreamy color fields, symbols, tiny landscapes, playful imagery, or expressive designs that can later be used to mend garments, decorate bags, personalize jackets, or transform everyday essentials into wearable art objects.
This activation celebrates the tactile beauty of wool, slow making, and the magic of creating imagery through fiber rather than paint.
Materials include:
• Colorful wool roving
• Felting needles & tools
• Community Woolbuddy
• Felt sheets & patch bases
• Embellishments & decorative details
• Embroidery floss & stitching materials
No prior felting experience required. Participants can keep things simple and intuitive or spend time building richly layered miniature textile artworks. Perfect for fiber lovers, patch collectors, textile enthusiasts, menders, and anyone interested in creating soft sculptural surfaces filled with color and individuality.
📍 Arrival Notes: Guests may enter through the front lobby doors and will find The Shiny Shop just inside the first door past the lobby. You’re also welcome to knock on our windows from the outside of the shop if you need help finding us — we’re happy to wave you in.
