About this Event
In an era already defined by algorithmic feeds, weaponised disinformation, and deepfakes that blur the line between fiction and fact, democracy faces a crisis of credibility. The platforms we rely on to inform and connect us are increasingly being used to divide, deceive and manipulate. At the same time, AI is accelerating the pace and scale of influence — making it harder than ever to know what’s real, and easier than ever to rewrite reality.
In this New Lines Magazine / Frontline Club salon, a panel of journalists and authors will explore: who benefits when the truth is broken? What role are journalists, tech companies and policymakers playing in the breakdown — or defence — of democratic discourse? And how can societies navigate a world where information is both weapon and battleground?
