About this Event
Instead of our monthly social we're having our annual general meeting (AGM) in March. We're looking for volunteers interested in running for board positions (listed below), as well as volunteers who are keen to be involved in building a real environmental and social justice movement on the North Shore. AGMs don't sound excitting, but we've got big plans to talk about and lots of beer. While any good electoral district association (EDA) needs some key positions filled, we want to run a decentralized approach that encourages volunteers to propose and own community building projects, such as food drives, Green hiking clubs, environmental cinema events or whatever idea you think could help build awareness and community in the North Shore.
Roles to be filed and a brief description are below:
CEO/Chair
- Responsible for chairing and organizing board meeting
- Responsible for keeping EDA board members accountable for assigned tasks
- Responsible for critical paperwork – e.g. Elections Canada paperwork
- Building the executive board
- Oversee the operation of the EDA
- Ensures there is a candidate during an election year
Financial Agent
- Responsible to Elections Canada for the Annual EDA Financial Report and Audit
- Maintains the EDA financial books
- Processes donations and expenses - Keeps us in line with Elections Canada rules
- Issues tax receipts
EDA Secretary
- Records minutes and action items from EDA Board meetings and distributes these to the Board
- Posts Board meeting minutes in the appropriate Google Docs shared folder
- Arrange facility logistics for each EDA Board meeting (either virtual or in person)
- Other EDA record keeping and organization tasks that may arise
Fundraising Coordinator
- Takes ownership for organizing at least one event per year that has a focus on fundraising
- Works with other event organizers to make sure that fundraising opportunities aren't missed
Event Organizers/Members at Large
- Arguably the most important role. We want volunteers who want to pick up and own the organization of individual or recurring events. This role has the freedom and creativity to allow you to bring ideas to the board and run with them.
Our AGM is open to Non-Members, but only active members of the Federal Green Party are able to vote.
