About this Event
Join us this February for a special Women of Whiskey event as we celebrate the incredible achievements of Victoria Eady Butler, the Master Blender at Uncle Nearest, and Fawn Weaver, the visionary founder and CEO of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. This event is a unique opportunity to recognize the contributions of two trailblazing Black women in the whiskey industry.
Victoria Eady Butler is not only a master of her craft but also a descendant of Nathan "Nearest" Green, the first known African American master distiller who taught Jack Daniel the art of whiskey-making. Victoria's journey from a career in criminal intelligence to becoming the first Black female master blender is nothing short of inspiring.
Fawn Weaver, an entrepreneur and author, founded Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey in 2017 after uncovering the untold story of Nearest Green. Her dedication to honoring Green's legacy and her leadership have propelled Uncle Nearest to become the fastest-growing independent American whiskey brand.
Under their expert guidance, Uncle Nearest has won numerous awards and accolades, becoming a symbol of excellence and innovation
This event will feature a tasting of 3 cocktails with food pairings by Chef Christa to complement 3 of Uncle Nearest’ s award-winning whiskeys. Lo Adams of RNDC will speak to the spirits. Attendees will have the chance to learn about the rich history behind these spirits and the innovative techniques that make them exceptional.
As we celebrate Black History Month, this event is a perfect time to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in the whiskey industry. The stories of Victoria Eady Butler and Fawn Weaver are powerful reminders of the contributions of Black distillers and the impact they continue to have on the world of spirits.
