There’s lots going on at the Mountsorrel & Rothley Heritage Centre over the February half term 17th to 21st! Our Quarry Bottom Railway will be reopening just for half term on the Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Enjoy a 6 to 7 minute train ride through the Heritage Centre gardens for just £2 adults and £1 children. Also open on all 5 days of half term is our Garden Railway, where the children and those young at heart, can drive the little radio controlled trains for £1.50 for 5 minutes. Our Crazy Golf course is also open 7 days a week until November. The 9 hole course is full of interesting obstacles to knock the balls through, can you get an hole in one? The crazy golf costs £2.50 per person. The Quarry Bottom Railway and Garden Railway operate subject to volunteer availability and dry or nearly dry weather. All other areas of the Heritage Centre site are open as usual as well. Explore our two discovery nature trails and gardens, see the steam engine, railway vehicles and historic road vehicles on display in our railway museum, build a den in our den building area and see items of local historic interest in our LMS wagon museum. Have a look at the 1834 railway lifting bridge we have almost finished restoring. There’s the Heritage rooms in the main building to see as well, including the new displays recently added to the upstairs Heritage Room. Entry to the site beyond the Granite’s patio is £2 adults and £1 children. Parking for visitors and access to Granite’s Coffee Shop and the Heritage rooms in the main building is free! We look forward to seeing you soon!
