This entire rulespack comes with 2 HUGE caveats. The first being that the new edition is on the horizon, and it’s not unreasonable to expect it to land prior to this event. Should that be the case, various aspects of this pack are subject to change, to align with the new rules. These will be updated immediately on the arrival of the new edition, but the core concept of the event, it’s prize support, structure etc. will not change drastically.
The second, is this is not a GBHL100 event… YET. Due to league rules, This cannot be advertised as a GBHL100, or any other size, until the 2025 Calendar has been published. There is nothing to suggest that this won’t be a league counting event, and I will update this pack as soon as it is accredited, however, this is to show I’m not being misleading, and don’t want to get told off by my colleagues on the committee!
If this isn’t enough to entice you, perhaps some testimonials of previous attendees might help!
"As a competitive player, competitive tournament formats are my primary interest; the 7th city GP provides a great example of a format that keeps things fresh and also competitive. I love the variety of a top cut/knockout format and the incentive of winning a free ticket is always on my mind as a competitor. The prize support is great, and it is more divided further throughout the field than most events, so I highly recommend this fantastic and well-run tournament!' – Dave Farmer, Any Heroics
“The GP bills itself as one of the most competitive tournaments in the UK – and although it absolutely fulfils that requirement with its unique format and huge array of players attending keen on a win, the main attraction for me is the camaraderie at the Grand Prix. Spending a whole weekend surrounded by Toy soldier enthusiasts all staying at the same hotel creates a social experience unlike any other. Over a hundred players all at one hotel, with people staying overnight playing board and card games, quizzing and having a drink. It’s like the glory days of the GBHL reborn!” Harry Parkhill, Entmoot Podcast
“The GP manages to strike the balance of being competitive but accessible for all levels and approaches for the game. The pod format means you will find yourself with likeminded players, battling it out for a cool prize come the end of the event. For this reason, it is one of the most unique and must attend events on the calendar each year” Ali King, former GBHL League Co-ordinator and League Champion
“Will Champion is the archetype of an all-round hobbyist. A top competitive player, he's also adept at painting, an absolute pleasure to have a game with, and an unparalleled TO. His name on an event billing is as close to a guarantee of a top MESBG gathering as you'll find. The Grand Prix is no exception - there is good reason it attracts 3-figure numbers of attendees. With prizes galore distributed across the standings, everyone has something to play for. The vibe is top notch, with many hobbyists staying at the venue site - this naturally supplements the weekend gaming with drink, chat, and casual fun board/card games in the evening. The Grand Prix is an all-round MESBG hobby event - whatever your interest in the hobby, there is something for everyone. I've learnt a lot for my event from the example Will sets as a TO and from the calibre of events that he hosts. I'd recommend supplementing a strong start to gaming in 2025 by attending the Grand Prix. I hope to see you there.” Michael Bradford, Co-Organiser of the Nations Cup
"The GP is an absolute joy. It feels fancy; being hosted in a country hotel, there's loads of time to relax between games, there's fantastic prizes and great boards and, because of the "pod" system, even incompetent players like myself are in with a shot at a prize. Ideal." Alex Temple, Battle Camper
