Takeisha Jefferson is a multidisciplinary visual artist and photographer whose work focuses on Black family history, memory, and what happens when our stories are left out of the archive. Her practice is rooted in lineage, lived experience, and preservation.
Her work has been recognized internationally, including being named a Top 50 artist in PhotoLucida Critical Mass in 2024 and 2025, featured by Google Arts & Culture as one of eight Black photographers in the U.S., and included in As We See It:
Redefining Identity. She is also an Aftermath Project grant recipient.
Jefferson has exhibited in over 80 shows, from museums and universities to community spaces, including her grandmother's living room. At the core of her work is community, accountability, and ensuring Black presence is part of the permanent record.
