A special treat for the VBA this month! Everyone’s favourite singing friend Mike Boyd is bringing in a group that will tickle everyone’s taste buds. From driving bluegrass to country ballads and everything in between.Featuring Mike “Boomer” Boyd guitar and vocals. Originally hailing from Oshawa, Ontario Boomer has been on the bluegrass scene of Vancouver Island for many years now. Known for his great voice and powerful rhythm guitar he previously led an island favourite band called The Maple Mountain Boys.
Jeff Ellis will be playing mandolin and singing harmony. Originally from Virginia, USA (don’t hold it against him!). Jeff is a multi instrumentalist and a long time musical companion of Boomer.
Luann Burton will be holding down the bass playing and harmony singing duties. Known to many in the VBA, she’s also originally from Ontario but makes her home in Sidney BC. She previously played with a group called Corner Grass and contributes beautiful harmonies and bass playing.
Mike Kraft and Larry Stevens. Is there a bio needed? These guys have been mainstays at the VBA and island music scene for ages. Fan favourites and master musicians who are long time members of the Clover Point Drifters. Their banjo and dobro playing are a welcome addition to this feature act!
