About this Event
In this dynamic and collaborative animation class, FC Academy students will transform original scripts written by young authors at 826 Boston into fully realized animated films. Working together in creative teams, students will interpret each story’s themes, characters, and tone, then bring them to life through imaginative visual design and hands-on production.
Using materials and equipment provided by FC Academy, students will design and build original characters, craft detailed sets, and explore a variety of animation techniques—from stop-motion to digital approaches. As they move from early concept sketches to storyboards and final edits, students will actively shape each project from script to screen, making creative decisions that strengthen the storytelling.
Throughout the process, students will develop practical skills in visual storytelling, camera operation, directing, sound design, and editing. They’ll learn how pacing, framing, lighting, and performance work together to create meaning and emotion on screen. Just as importantly, they’ll experience the full creative journey—collaborating, revising, problem-solving, and celebrating the moment when an idea on the page becomes a finished film ready to share.
Class will run (Tuesday- Friday): April 21-24 from 9AM-12PM
