About this Event
(FBC) is dedicated to promoting inclusivity & safety in birding for everyone especially LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC & disabled folks and women.
Join FBC and the for a morning out at Graceland Cemetery & Arboretum as we spot fall migrants and identify the fungi in the area.
No prior experience with birdwatching is required. This is a beginner friendly event and organization. Families are also welcome to join (children do not need to RSVP). Binoculars will be available for loan upon request.
What to expect: We will spend 1.5-2 hours on mostly flat, asphalt-paved trails throughout the cemetery, occasionally the group may venture on to grassy lawn areas or woodchip/dirt paths. We will cover a distance of approximately 1-3 miles depending the birds we see along the way. There are no benches or rest areas along the path, though there are monument steps along the way that can fill this purpose as needed. Detailed directions for parking and meeting location will be provided via email to all attendees.
Questions? Please email [email protected].
Getting there: The cemetery entrance is located along the #22 bus (Clark & Cullom stop), and it is also within walking distance from the Red and Brown CTA L lines, and #80 and #78 buses.
