Starting from Faversham Train Station car park, we soon leave the town behind as we head out past the well-known Macknade Farm Shop and into a patchwork of fields and traditional Kent orchards, which are particularly beautiful at this time of year.Early May brings fresh greenery across the landscape, with hedgerows coming to life and orchards bursting into colour. The route passes through Boughton Court Farm before continuing through the peaceful grounds of St Peter and St Paul Church in Boughton, a quiet rural setting that reflects the long agricultural history of the village.We continue across the golf course and into the village of Boughton before following orchard paths that skirt the elegant grounds of Mount Ephraim Gardens. The walk then leads into Herne Hill, where a magnificent old oak tree stands proudly in the village square. Passing through Wey Street Farm and Langdon Court, we eventually arrive in Goodnestone, an area long associated with Kent’s hop-growing heritage, before making our way back across the countryside to Faversham Train Station.ScheduleDate: 2 May 2026

Led by the experienced Boots on Adventures team, the route combines orchards, farmland, historic villages, and quiet country lanes, creating a rewarding day out through the heart of north Kent.Starting from Faversham Train Station car park, the walk heads towards Macknade Farm Shop, a much-loved local landmark that reflects the area’s strong connection to farming and seasonal produce. Within a short distance the surroundings open into wide countryside, where rows of blossoming orchards and bright spring fields create one of the most distinctive landscapes in Kent.The route passes through Boughton Court Farm and continues towards the historic grounds of St Peter and St Paul Church in Boughton. Surrounded by open farmland and mature trees, the church provides a peaceful pause along the route and a glimpse into the long rural story of this part of Kent. After crossing the nearby golf course, we reach Boughton village before continuing along quiet orchard paths that pass close to the beautiful Mount Ephraim Gardens estate.As the walk continues into Herne Hill, the village square comes into view with its striking old oak tree, a familiar local landmark and a lovely spot to appreciate the relaxed rhythm of village life. From here the path leads across the farmland of Wey Street Farm and Langdon Court, where wide views stretch across gently rolling countryside that feels especially alive during the spring months.The final stage brings us into Goodnestone, a village long associated with Kent’s hop-growing tradition. These fields once played an important role in the region’s agricultural economy, and the surrounding countryside still carries that sense of heritage. From here the route gradually returns across open farmland towards Faversham, completing a varied and enjoyable circular walk.With the landscape full of fresh colour, birdsong across the hedgerows, and orchards at their seasonal best, this walk captures the character of the Kent countryside in spring. Guided at a relaxed and sociable pace, it’s an ideal way to enjoy a May day outdoors while discovering the quieter paths and historic villages that surround Faversham.
