We look forward to seeing you there!
This spring we offer you the chance to spend an evening surrounded by some of the most enchanting, beautiful and serene works by three of the finest French composers of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Our centrepiece, the Fauré Requiem, is the grandest of his works for chorus and orchestra and one of his most popular. The Requiem is at the same time a piece of rapturous beauty, reverence, assertiveness and calm. We also perform his early masterpiece ‘Cantique de Jean Racine’, the choral version of the ‘Pavane’ and ‘Tantum Ergo’.
Our other pieces include César Franck’s much loved ‘Panis Angelicus’ and two works by Jean Philippe Rameau, the ‘Laboravi Clamans’ and ‘La Nuit’.
As usual we are accompanied by the Edwards Ensemble led by Marcus Broome, Graham Scott at the organ and we are once again joined by the sublime singing of Amy Carson (soprano) and Timothy Dickinson (bass).

The subject of the talk will be ‘Fauré – his life, his contemporaries and the Requiem’. Nigel has a huge knowledge of his subject, having lived and worked with music from a young age. He is also very entertaining to listen to! We do hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to gain some context of the wonderful music you are about to hear.
