**About Fathom Lane
@fathomlane**
Led by acclaimed songwriter Michael Ferrier, Minneapolis folk rockers Fathom Lane return with their first album since 2017. IN THE DRIFTLESS is a poetic and nuanced blend of country, folk, pop, and rock with lyrics exploring themes of loss, isolation, addiction, discovery, and ultimately: redemption. Ferrier’s songs transport listeners across a variety of musical settings ranging from the open spaces of the Midwestern prairies, to the dark solitude of a hidden bedroom.
The record also features imaginative covers of songs by the legendary Tom Petty (“You & Me”), and Minnesota transplant country rocker Mary Cutrufello (“Sad Songs & Waltzes Revisited”). Led by Ferrier on acoustic guitar and vocals, Fathom Lane also features a cast of fellow artists. Ashleigh Still haunts with her breathtaking harmonies and keys, producer and singer Matt Patrick layers in electric guitars and anything else necessary, Shane Akers breaks hearts with his lap steel guitar, bassist Paul Boblett lays a groove built for a melodic approach, and drummer Alex Young sets the tone for exploration.
IN THE DRIFTLESS builds on the success of Fathom Lane’s previous record ASILOMAR, delving even more deeply into their signature cinematic blend of folk noir and country rock. Ferrier’s lyrics take the listener on an inner journey of discovery, suggestive of shared dreaming and relationships found and lost. How do we tell love from obsession? How do we relate from vast distances? How do we survive these times? How do we find ourselves again after loss?
**About Jillian Rae
@jraemusic**
Jillian Rae is a Minneapolis-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer whose authentic and powerful, genre-transcending music is pioneering a new wave of music in the Midwest.
Rae’s newest single ‘Silence’ — the first single off of Rae's upcoming record — holds the title for the song that she’s worked on the longest from start to finish. When Rae started writing the song in 2021 she was still quarantined in her Minneapolis home, in the depths of the pandemic and following the murder of George Floyd. What evolved over the next few years is the biggest production and collaborative effort she’s undertaken yet to date. Silence’ is blunt and honest, but hopeful — yet not in a ‘Pollyanna’ sort of way. It compels you to think while you’re listening, make the world a better place, and when it’s over you will want to hear it again and again.
Is ‘Silence’ a political song? It wasn’t intended to be but if you ask Rae about it, she will point out that whether we like it or not — most things in this life are, and until that changes it will continue to impact her art.
Next up for Rae is the highly-anticipated follow up to her 2019 full length release ‘I Can’t Be the One You Want Me to Be.’ Rae and partner Eric Martin have been in the studio putting the final touches on the next full-length album slated to come out sometime next year.
In addition to fronting her own indie band, Jillian also plays regularly with her traditional folk group Corpse Reviver and has toured extensively, backing up Grammy-winning acts like The Okee Dokee Brothers.
She’s opened for and shared the stage with national acts like the Steve Miller Band, Dr. Dog, Shakey Graves and Tiffany. Her work has also been featured internationally — Rae’s song Wayward One was featured prominently in the hit Chinese film The White Storm 2 and has catapulted her into near stardom in China.
