Children become FAST Heroes in this 5-week health education program that teaches children how to recognize the signs of stroke. Grades 1-3.
About this Event

FAST Heroes is the award-winning stroke health education program that aims to raise awareness of stroke symptoms and the need for rapid action.

Join the VPL staff and the FAST Heroes animated characters to learn about the three main signs of stroke and the importance of calling an ambulance immediately.

In this program, children learn and share life-saving knowledge with their families, targeting their grandparents (or other older adults in their family). Why grandparents? In many families, children spend quality time together with their grandparents. As well, stroke risk increases over 60 years of age and stroke is the leading cause of disability and loss among older adults. When a person experiences a stroke, they urgently need someone to notice and to call for medical help. What if your child were the closest bystander in that critical moment for a beloved grandparent?

This is a five-week program – children must attend all sessions to ‘graduate’ at the end of the program. Registration is for all five sessions. For grades 1-3.
